I know, I know, I have missed you this past week as well. Sorry that it has been over a week since my last post, but I have had a lot going on. I have a big event at work that needed some special attention, and it is shaping up to be a great conference. I was also working hard, co-hosting a baby shower for my co-worker Kate, who's baby boy is due in October. (I made all the decorations, pictures to come soon.) Anyway, it's challenge time again over at the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog. This week the challenge is to create a shape card, using at least one Cricut cut. Make sure you head over to FCCB and link up your project :) I was digging through all my stamps and found this super cute, Studio G stamp that says "Hello Friend" and I immediately thought of a phone, so I began to search through my cartridges to find a phone that I could use for this challenge. I found a lot of options, but I feel in love with this cut from the Wall Décor and More cartridge. I used the Cricut Craft Room, to weld a flipped version of the image to the top of the phone, to make the card. Then I cut another image using the yellow pattern paper for the front of the card. This image had a cord on one side of it. I cut it off, because the piece was too thin and it looked a bit odd once I put the card together. I finished it off by stamping the sentiment on the front, and adding rhinestones and the circle glass piece for the phone dial. I felt that it still needed something, so I added the pretty paper flowers with rhinestone centers. I love how it turned out and think it will make one of my friends very happy to get this card in the mail.

My son's daycare teacher, Miss Pam, has been a bit under the weather lately, so I wanted to make a card to tell her how much we love her and everything she does for Dallas. Today is the last day of daycare before the Thanksgiving holiday, so we will give it to her today :) I started by cutting the card base out. I cut the card at 6 x 8, which makes a 4 x 6 card when it is folded in half. The next thing I did was cut all the peices out, using my cricut. I cut the pear out using the cricut cartridge, Wall Decor and More, and cut the Thanks for Giving title out using my Sans Serif cricut cartridge. I cut the the pear image out twice, once in cream and the second time in blue, then cut the layer image once in blue. I did this so I could use the swirl, stem, and leave from the blue image to layer on top of the cream. I wanted the final image to more color, and I think this worked out pretty well. I cut the title out in cream. For the title shadow, I used the weld feature in cricut craft room to attach each letter, and cut it out in blue. Next, I put everything together, attaching the title and pear. It still needed something, so I went searching in my supplies box, and found these great blue and cream color paper flowers. I think they added the perfect final touch. I hope Miss Pam loves the card as much as I do!!! Materials Used: Cricut: Wall Decor and More and Sans Serif Paper: DCWV - A Type of Art paper stack Flowers: paper flowers from Michaels We wanted to take Dallas somewhere that he would really love, for this years family vacation. We decided that San Antonio would be the perfect place for a 4 year old. We visited the Alamo, cruised down the riverwalk, played in the hotel pool, ordered room service, and visited Sea World. At Sea World, we saw Shamu, saw the diver and dolphin show, and the sea lion and otter show. Dallas was excited and completely worn out by the end of the day. It ended up being a perfect family vacation. When we got home, I couldn't wait to scrapbook these pictures. I wanted to do one layout that would cover all parts of the trip. I made a small pocket out of the side of the page to keep all our ticket stubs and reciepts. Then I wanted to make the page look like a whale was jumping into the pictures, but I didn't have the right cricut to make the cut, so I used the fish cut from the Animal Kingdom cartridge and only used the bottom part. I also cut waves out using the pirate border from Wall Decor and More. Materials Used: Paper: Colorbok - earth tones pattern paper pack Cricut: Animal Kingdom and Wall Decor and More Black Rhinestones: Michaels I also made a 8 x 8 scrapbook of our trip using Shutterfly.
To see the full vacation book, visit my share site. Sometimes just taking a great picture is not enough, I wanted to create a scrapbook page that would showcase at least one of the pictures. I used a 4 x 6 picture of my cousan Alexis, matted it on a peice of cream colored cardstock. I then inked the edges with ink. The paper had the big beautiful flowers, so I just added more, using the paper flowers. I added rhinestones to the centers of each of the paper flowers. To finish the page off, I cut butterflys out of black cardstock in 3 different sizes, bent them in toward the centers to make them look like they are flying, and attached them to the page.
